Are You Really Ready?

Matthew 25:1-4 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.  And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.  They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

Did you notice in the above passage of scriptures that all ten of the virgins were looking or expecting the bridegroom to return, but only five, half of them were actually prepared and ready! Isn’t that so true of this world today. Many people, including Christians know of Jesus Christ return but sadly many are not prepared and ready.

I believe that Jesus is coming and coming very soon. The signs of the times are all around us, just like the Bible said it would be before Jesus return (Matthew 24). We are truly living in the last days just as the apostle Paul talked about in 2 Timothy 3: 1-5.

I believe the next great event on God’s time table, is the rapture (catching away) of the Church, as mentioned in 1 Thessalonians 4:17.

The question is, are you ready, are you prepared?  The five wise virgins were ready and prepared because they had stored up oil. Oil in the Bible is often symbolic of The Holy Spirit. Just as the five wise virgins stored up oil in their vessels, we should be storing up oil in our lives by praying, reading The Word of God and seeking the Lord.  If we will do this now, we will have the power, through the Holy Spirit to overcome and handle the unexpected trials in this life, that the devil will throw at us!

But most important, will we be ready and watching when Jesus comes for us! Remember, there is no substitute for spiritual preparation.
